Dan On is collaborating with the University of British Columbia to establish an 8,500 sq ft food tech and research development center aimed at fostering talent and driving innovation in the food and beverage industry. This project benefits not only the academic and commercial sectors but also the province and the country.
A $7M donation was made to UBC's food science project to (1) develop innovative food and beverages using oats, nuts, and dried fruits, focusing on new ingredients, formulas, tastes, textures, and appearances; and (2) research methods for improving food safety, extending shelf life, preserving food, and eliminating contamination.
The center is currently awaiting additional equipment, machinery setup, and licensing, with an official opening planned for March 2025.
