When we think of Christmas, we imagine colorful presents neatly placed under a glowing Christmas tree, the warmth of family gatherings, delicious meals, and the sound of laughter filling the air. All these moments come together to paint a heartwarming picture of love, joy, and togetherness. However, for children in Northern Highlands, a complete Christmas celebration remains a distant dream. Life's hardships often overshadow the festive spirit. This year, the Dan On Foundation stepped in to turn those dreams into reality. Through their heartfelt efforts, they brought happiness and warmth to these children, creating a meaningful and unforgettable Christmas filled with hope and joy.
Bringing a Warm Christmas to Sapa's Children
With the desire to bring the joy of Christmas to the little "flowers" in the mountainous areas of Sapa, Dan On Foundation embarked on a heartwarming journey filled with love and care. This year, the foundation extended its reach beyond Ta Van School, which they visited last year, to include Phan Xi Pang School, spreading the festive spirit to even more children. The journey began at Tan Son Nhat Airport, where the Dan On Foundation team gathered early, filled with excitement—not just for the long trip ahead but for the chance to revisit the highlands and bring smiles to the children. Boxes of food supplies, gift packages, cooking equipment, and decorations were transported to a central location in Sapa. There, the volunteers worked together to carefully store, sort, and prepare everything for the two-day visit to the schools. Rows of neatly arranged gifts and meals were ready for delivery, reflecting the team's meticulous preparation. Each item was crafted not just with skillful hands but with hearts full of love, carrying the hope of giving the children a warm and memorable Christmas celebration.
Preparation in Progress
Joining Dan On Foundation on this meaningful journey were generous sponsors who not only contributed resources but also actively participated in the charitable activities. High-quality fish balls from Vinh Hoan, traditional dried foods from Sa Giang, water bottles from Duy Tan, dried dragon fruit from TNG Food, and the presence of Cofico representatives—general contractors for the East Pacific Foods Factory project—were among the many contributions. Additionally, the involvement of the Nuns from Mái Ấm Tình Mẹ and the family of Mr. Patrick added a special touch to this Christmas effort. Dan On Foundation deeply values and appreciates the support of these sponsors. Their contributions brought delicious meals and thoughtful gifts to the teachers and children of the Sapa region, creating unforgettable moments and a truly special Christmas celebration for everyone involved.
Sponsored Products Packed with Care
On the evening of December 24th, the chill of Christmas Eve descended upon Ta Van School, but it couldn’t dampen the warmth radiating from the bright smiles and sparkling eyes of the students. Their excitement touched the hearts of the Dan On Foundation team, just as it had during their first visit to this school. A total of 750 gift packages, 72 boxes of milk, and other sponsored items were personally handed out by the team. Ms. Luu Bao Hoa - CEO of Dan On Foods Corporation, joined the event and expressed her joy at witnessing the pure, happy smiles of the children. Their laughter and eyes filled with joy were the most vivid proof of the profound meaning and human value of this journey. This special celebration also marked the fruits of the foundation’s efforts in completing significant school renovation projects in 2023. These improvements, including a clean water well, boarding houses, a kitchen, and sanitary facilities, have greatly enhanced the students’ living and learning conditions, making this Christmas even more memorable.
Gift-Giving Event for Students at Ta Van School
In the early morning of December 25th, the Dan On Foundation team rose bright and early to prepare for a special activity with the young students of Phan Xi Pang School—a ride on the Muong Hoa mountain train. This journey wasn’t just an ordinary outing; it marked the children’s first encounter with a modern mode of transportation, exposing them to advanced technology and professional services. What seemed simple—"seeing the beauty of their familiar homeland from a new perspective"—opened a door for the students to recognize the potential of their home region. It was the start of broadening their awareness of the world and inspiring dreams of a brighter future. The experience left a lasting impression. Images of cutting-edge technology, comfort, and the natural beauty surrounding them served as motivation for self-improvement and aspirations to contribute to their community's development. With the attentive support of Dan-D Pak staff, the Nuns, teachers, and well-organized shuttle vehicles, the trip was safe, joyful, and seamless. It offered the students a chance to fully embrace the beauty of the mountainous landscape while temporarily leaving behind their daily hardships. This unforgettable adventure planted seeds of hope and curiosity, encouraging the children to dream big and envision a better tomorrow.
Children Joyfully Experience the Muong Hoa Mountain Train Ride
During the tour, as fatigue set in and hunger crept up, the children were excited to know the best was yet to come. Awaiting them at the Phan Xi Pang schoolyard was a grand feast prepared with care and love. The aroma of roasted chicken filled the air, and freshly made burgers with crisp vegetables beckoned. Leading the culinary effort was none other than Mr. Dan On - the founder of Dan On Foundation, who took on the role of head chef. Under his guidance, the entire team worked tirelessly to prepare and serve over 1,000 meals. This wasn’t just a delicious meal—it was a celebration of love, care, and community. Each bite reflected the warmth and dedication of the team, leaving the children with full bellies and happy hearts, making this Christmas one they would never forget.
A Meal Thoughtfully Served by the Dan On Foundation Team
Meanwhile, a smaller team was hard at work decorating the stage, ensuring every detail was perfect. The centerpiece was a magnificent Christmas tree surrounded by neatly arranged gift boxes and towering gift stacks, setting the festive mood. At noon, the event began with an entertaining musical performance by Mr. Dan On and Ms. Luu Bao Hoa, creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere. The excitement continued with energetic games and captivating performances by the students, filling the air with joy and laughter. The grand finale featured Santa Claus handing out gifts to the children. The students, polite and excited, lined up in an orderly fashion, their eyes sparkling with happiness. Each child received their gift with a radiant smile and a heartfelt bow, expressing their gratitude to the "Santa Clauses of Dan-D Pak." It was a magical moment that brought the true spirit of Christmas to life for everyone involved.
Dan-D Pak Santa Claus Delivers Gifts to Children at Phan Xi Pang School
On behalf of the school, the Principal of Phan Xi Păng School presented Mr. Dan On with a traditional handmade brocade, a symbol of the unique culture of the Northwestern mountains. This thoughtful gift served as a sincere expression of gratitude to Dan On Foundation and the entire team for bringing such a meaningful Christmas celebration to the students. The gift not only represented appreciation but also highlighted the deep connection between the foundation and the local culture, making the event even more special.
The Schoolyard Bustles with Children Enjoying the Christmas Spirit
We hope that next year, Santa’s gift bag will be even bigger, filled with more presents to bring joy to even more students. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the teachers in these remote areas who have chosen to stay and dedicate themselves to teaching these children. We wish for many more helping hands to join in, supporting the future of these children and contributing to a brighter tomorrow. Thank you to the students for allowing us to contribute and create beautiful memories that will stay in their hearts. We’ve lit a warm flame of love in each of their hearts, and thanks to the continued efforts of Dan On Foundation, this flame will grow brighter in the future. Dan On Foundation also hopes to gain the support and empathy of even more sponsors, so we can offer more opportunities for these children and improve the quality of life in their communities. Together, we can create a better future for them.
